Pleated or Honeycomb / Cellular?
Traditional pleated blinds use a single layer of folded fabric, creating an exceptionally slim and simple blind.
Honeycomb – also known as cellular – fabrics use multiple layers to create small insulating pockets within the blind. This additional layer of fabric can help improve thermal performance while maintaining the neat appearance that makes pleated blinds so popular.
Both systems are available in an extensive choice of colours, textures and contemporary finishes, with dimout, blackout and solar-control fabrics available depending on the system selected.
Specialist Shapes, Gables & Apex Windows
One of the biggest advantages of pleated and cellular blinds is their ability to accommodate unusual and shaped glazing.
Specialist systems can be manufactured for triangular, trapezoidal, sloping, gable and apex windows, providing a made-to-measure shading solution where conventional rectangular blinds simply won't work.
These systems are individually specified around the shape and dimensions of the glazing, with different operating methods available depending on the window and application.
This makes pleated blinds particularly well suited to modern extensions, vaulted ceilings and large architectural gable windows.
Top-Down, Bottom-Up
For even greater control over privacy and daylight, selected pleated systems are available with Top-Down, Bottom-Up operation.
Rather than simply raising the blind from the bottom, the fabric can be positioned within different areas of the window – allowing you to screen the lower section for privacy while leaving the upper glass uncovered for natural light.
Multi-zone systems are also available for selected applications, providing even greater flexibility.
Solar & Thermal Performance
Selected pleated and cellular fabrics are available with solar-reflective and specialist backing technologies designed to help manage solar gain and improve comfort within the room.
Cellular fabrics also create an additional insulating layer between the room and glazing, making them particularly popular in conservatories and areas with large amounts of glass.
We'll recommend the most appropriate fabric based on whether your priority is heat control, glare reduction, privacy, blackout or simply the appearance of the finished blind.
Motorised Pleated Blinds
Selected pleated and cellular systems can also be fully motorised, particularly useful for larger, higher or difficult-to-reach glazing.
Depending on the system, battery and mains-powered options are available, with control by remote or wireless wall switch and compatible smart-home integration.
